Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I have postpartum depression?
Postpartum depression goes beyond the expected emotional ups and downs of new motherhood. If you’re feeling persistently sad, numb, irritable, anxious, or disconnected from your baby or yourself for more than two weeks — it’s time to pay attention. You might be struggling to sleep or eat (even when your baby is), feeling overwhelmed by guilt, or thinking you’re not cut out for motherhood. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone and there’s support designed exactly for what you’re going through.
How long does postpartum depression last?
There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline. Postpartum depression can begin within weeks of birth or months later —and it can last several months or longer if left untreated. With the right support, healing is absolutely possible. You don’t have to wait it out or push through alone. The sooner you get care, the sooner you can begin to feel like yourself again, not just functioning, but truly living.
What are the common symptoms of postpartum depression?
Symptoms can vary, but some of the most common include:
- Feeling sad, numb, or empty most of the day.
- Frequent irritability, anger, or mood swings.
- Difficulty bonding with your baby.
- Feeling disconnected from yourself or others.
- Intrusive or scary thoughts you’re afraid to say out loud.
- Sleep or appetite changes unrelated to the baby’s schedule.
- Persistent guilt or the belief that you’re failing as a mom.
- Lack of interest in things you usually enjoy.
If you're nodding along to any of these, it's not your fault, and you're not alone.
What type of therapy is best for postpartum depression?
The most effective therapy meets all of you — not just the symptoms. My approach blends traditional talk therapy with holistic wellness coaching. That means we’ll explore the emotional, physical, and spiritual layers of what you're experiencing. You’ll receive support to regulate your nervous system, work through identity shifts, release guilt, and rebuild your confidence from the inside out. Whether you need practical tools, deep emotional processing, or simply a space to breathe — your care is tailored to what actually works for you.
How does virtual therapy work?
Virtual therapy sessions are held over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.
Can I use my insurance for virtual therapy?
I do not accept insurance at this time.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel your session. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a fee.
Testimonials
"I started working with Stephanie at the darkest time of my life. My son was not yet two years old and I was being crushed by the weight of my anxiety and panic, especially at night. I’d always lived with anxiety but it became unmanageable after the birth of my baby. Defeated and feeling like medication was my only option, I decided to take a chance and look for a therapist. Stephanie helped me understand the root of my anxiety and how to implement strategies to cultivate peace within myself but she also taught me how to sit with my anxiety and experience it in a way that felt more manageable to me. I always felt that she genuinely cared for me and was there to answer a text or phone call if I was feeling stuck or afraid (even in the middle of the night!) Stephanie is an amazing therapist but first and foremost an amazing human being. My only regret is that I wish I had found her sooner!"
"Stephanie is very down to earth and authentic. Her approach is simple, yet impactful. As a mom of two under two I was struggling to manage my stress levels and always burned out, finding little to no joy or contentment in my life. I felt like I was failing in every aspect of my life. Stephanie had a way of drawing out my strengths and helped me to grow in ways I could have never imagined. Our work together was meaningful and insightful and I’m so grateful to have met her."
"I loved and appreciated Stephanie’s approach to therapy. She is the right balance of compassionate and empathetic but also direct. Working with Stephanie showed me that there wasn’t anything “wrong” with me. She was committed to supporting me in finding realistic, personalized solutions. I wholeheartedly recommend inviting Stephanie to walk beside you on your healing journey. "
